Eighteenth-ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (5-23) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked STB Le Havre (16-12) in Boulogne-sur-Mer. The visitors from Le Havre managed to secure only one-point victory 103-102. However their fans expected much easier game. SO Maritime Boulogne was ahead by 10 points after three quarters before a 26-16 charge of STB Le Havre, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-13. STB Le Havre outrebounded SO Maritime Boulogne 46-26 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. SO Maritime Boulogne was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Dominican Ricardo Greer (196-77, college: Pittsburgh) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Tyrone Brazelton (183-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who added 27 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Kenny Boynton (188-91, college: Florida) responded with 33 points (!!!) (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import Alando Tucker (198-84, college: Wisconsin) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Five STB Le Havre and four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. STB Le Havre moved-up to fourth place, which they share with ASVEL and Nancy. SO Maritime Boulogne lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 23 lost games. STB Le Havre will play against Chalons-Reims (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. SO Maritime Boulogne will play against Le Mans (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
