The biggest surprise of round 4 was guest Caballeros de Culiacan's (2-2) road victory over 6th ranked Mineros de Caborca (1-3) 102-97 on Saturday evening. Mineros de Caborca was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 28-22 charge of Caballeros de Culiacan, which allowed them to win the game. They were well out of reach of Mineros de Caborca shooting 219.4 percent from the field and made 26-of-22 free shots (118.2 percent) during the game. Caballeros de Culiacan shot the lights out from three sinking 24 long-distance shots on high 300.0 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Frederick Hooks (198-82, college: Humboldt St.) fired a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (on 21-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Jamell Cornley (196-87, college: Penn St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 18-of-6 shooting from the field). point guard Omar Krayem (185-86, college: Cal.Baptist) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists (on 22-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Paul Jones (198-89, college: W.Washington) added 31 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 18-of-12 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Caballeros de Culiacan moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guasave and Nogales. Mineros de Caborca at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Los Mochis and Hermosillo. Caballeros de Culiacan is looking forward to face higher ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Mineros de Caborca will play against the league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#2) and is hoping to win this game.
