Second Stage Round 10: Bologna - Irpino 55-60

An interesting game for Irpino (7-2) which played road game in Bologna against 4th ranked Bologna (3-6). Second ranked Irpino managed to get a 5-point victory 60-55. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bologna won third quarter 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Irpino won last quarter 19-15. They also forced 29 Bologna turnovers. Strangely Bologna outrebounded Irpino 42-27 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Brazilian swingman Tayara Madonna (170-91) fired 22 points and 4 steals for the winners. Naturalized Argentinian guard Valentina Maggi (174-85) chipped in 13 points. The former international center Elisa Silva (192-88, agency: LBM Management) produced 11 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Raelin D'Alie (168-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: LBM Management) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Bologna's coach Matteo Lolli tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Irpino maintains second position in A2 with 7-2 record behind leader San Giovanni. Bologna at the other side dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Irpino's next round opponent will be league's leader San Giovanni in Sesto San Giovanni and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bologna will play on the road against Alpo VR (#6) in Verona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
