Regular Season Round 51: Fukushima - Tokyo Cinq R. 99-87

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Fukushima (19-29) won against at home 11th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (5-42) 99-87 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 53-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Fukushima made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. His fellow American import power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) chipped in 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Bahamas forward Zane Knowles (208-92, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Blacktop Management) who recorded 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American center Will Foster (226-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Inception Sports) added 14 points, 15 rebounds and 11 blocks respectively. Tokyo Cinq R.'s coach Motofumi Aoki tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fukushima moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Shinshu BW. Tokyo Cinq R. lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 42 games lost. Fukushima will face higher ranked Toyama Grouses (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tokyo Cinq R. will play against the league's leader Kyoto Hannar. (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
