A2 Gold top team - Tezenis VE (24-4) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat fifth ranked FCM Ferentino (15-12) in Verona 86-79. FCM Ferentino was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Tezenis VE made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Darryl Monroe (198-86, college: George Mason) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and international point guard Andrea De Nicolao (185-91) accounted for 21 points and 5 assists. American forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import point guard Markel Starks (188-91, college: Georgetown) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for FCM Ferentino in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tezenis VE have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 24-4 record. Loser FCM Ferentino dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Tezenis VE will meet Manital Torino (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. FCM Ferentino will play against Trieste and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
