The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Broni's (3-6) home victory over 6th ranked Alpo VR (1-8) 70-56 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Broni. Alpo VR was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alpo VR to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a very good performance for Bulgarian power forward Dimana Georgieva (190-88) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international forward Valeria De Pretto (185-91, agency: LBM Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Broni players scored in double figures. Power forward Chiara Terenzi (190-93) replied with 16 points and forward Luisa Carraro (178-92) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Alpo VR. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Broni moved-up to fourth place in A2. Newly promoted Alpo VR keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Broni will face higher ranked Ferrara (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Alpo VR will play against Bologna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
