Bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod managed to get a eighth victory, breaking the series of three consecutive loses on Monday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona in Nes Ziyona 79-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ironi Nes-Ziona. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Ironi Nes-Ziona won third quarter 22-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ironi Nes-Ziona 48-32 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward James Nunnally (201-90, college: UCSB) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St., agency: Comsport) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Meir Tapiro (192-75, agency: Avi Zilberman) came up with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Ironi Nes-Ziona in the defeat. Maccabi Ashdod (8-19) moved-up to eleventh place. Ironi Nes-Ziona at the other side keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi Ashdod will meet at home bottom-ranked Galil Gilboa (#12) in the next round. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
