The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Marinos (21-5) in Puerto La Cruz on Monday night. Hosts were edged by seventh ranked Toros (10-16) 68-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Marinos. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 2 points. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Miguel Marriaga (205-84) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) replied with 15 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Marinos. Marinos' coach Fernando Duro rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toros maintains seventh position with 10-16 record. Defending champion Marinos still keep top place with five games lost. Toros are looking forward to face league's second-placed Bucaneros in La Guaira in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Marinos will play on the road against Guaiqueries in Porlamar and are hoping to win this game.
