Regular Season Round 5: Caborca - Mazatlan 88-84

The most surprising game was the first loss of Lobos UAD Mazatlan (3-1) in Cananea on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Mineros de Caborca (2-3) 88-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lobos UAD Mazatlan. American players dominated the game. Forward Paul Jones (198-89, college: W.Washington) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Omar Krayem (185-86, college: Cal.Baptist) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Krayem is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman Vincent Grier (195-83, college: Minnesota) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Lobos UAD Mazatlan. Four Mineros de Caborca and five Lobos UAD Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Mineros de Caborca maintains seventh place with 2-3 record. Newly promoted Lobos UAD Mazatlan keeps the second position with one game lost. Mineros de Caborca are again looking forward to face league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will have a break next round.
