Regular Season Round 6: Culiacan - Navolato 104-99

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Caballeros de Culiacan and 6th ranked Garra Canera de Navolato had identical 3-2 record. This time Caballeros de Culiacan used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Navolato 104-99. The hosts were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 31-22 last quarter charge of Garra Canera de Navolato cut the lead to 104-99 at the end of the game. Caballeros de Culiacan well out of reach of Garra Canera de Navolato shooting 167.6 percent from the field and made 21-of-17 charity shots (123.5 percent) during the game. Caballeros de Culiacan shot the lights out from three nailing 19 long-distance shots on high 146.2 percentage. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for Theron Laudermill (202-89, college: CS San Bernar.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) contributed with 23 points and 7 assists (on 12-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Worth to mention Laudermill played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Forward Mike Anderson (201-86, college: VCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 23-of-15 shooting from the field) and forward Darrien Mack (200-91, college: Eckerd) added 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-6 shooting from the field) in the effort for Garra Canera de Navolato. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caballeros de Culiacan have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Guaymas, which they share with Guasave. Garra Canera de Navolato at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Garra Canera de Navolato will play against Mineros de Caborca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
