Regular Season Round 36: Toros - Bucaneros 88-77

The most important game in the last round took place in Maracay between second ranked Bucaneros (19-9) and seventh ranked Toros (11-17) on Thursday night. Bucaneros were defeated by Toros on the road 88-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Bucaneros. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Bucaneros managed to win third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Elder Gimenez (186-91) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds and international center Miguel Marriaga (205-84) who added 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati, agency: Tycoon Sports Inc.) with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toros maintains seventh position with 11-17 record. Bucaneros at the other side dropped to the third place with nine games lost. Toros are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Gaiteros (#10) in Maracaibo in the next round. Bucaneros will have a break next round.
