Regular Season Round 52: Shimane SM - Fukuoka Rizing 88-82

Very expected game when 10th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (12-37) lost on the road to sixth ranked Shimane Magic (19-30) 88-82 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Fukuoka Rizing trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 30-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-88 at the end of the game. Fukuoka Rizing was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) replied with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import power forward Kirk Van Slyke (208-89, college: Arkansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) added 16 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Fukuoka Rizing. Five Shimane Magic and four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. Fukuoka Rizing's coach Joe Bryant tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shimane Magic maintains sixth position with 19-30 record, which they share with Shinshu BW and Fukushima. Fukuoka Rizing lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 37 games lost. Shimane Magic will face again Fukuoka Rizing (#10) at home in the next round.
