Second Stage Round 9: Kalisz - Alba Chorzow 66-72

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Alba Chorzow (4-14) won against on the road higher ranked Kalisz (7-10) 72-66 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Alba Chorzow dominated on the defensive end, holding Kalisz to just 5 points in third quarter. They made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Kalisz 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Marcin Weselak (204-79) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Piotr Stepak (193-94) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Jakub Kolodziej (186-86) who recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Przemyslaw Tradecki (180-89) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Kalisz's coach Piotr Czaska tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Alba Chorzow maintains tenth place in Group F with 4-14 record. Loser Kalisz keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Alba Chorzow will face higher ranked Nowa Sol (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
