Regular Season Round 45: Aishin SH - Chiba Jets 59-65

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (40-10) in Kariya on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Chiba Jets (31-18) 65-59. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aishin Sea Horses won fourth quarter 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Swingman Shuhei Kitagawa (185-85) answered with 22 points and the former international guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) added 11 points in the effort for Aishin Sea Horses. Aishin Sea Horses' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba Jets have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 31-18 record. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with ten games lost. Chiba Jets are looking forward to face higher ranked Dragonflies (#3) in Hiroshima in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aishin Sea Horses will play on the road against Tsukuba R. and are hoping to win this game.
