There was no surprise when 6th ranked Aomori Watts (23-26) lost on the road to third ranked Niigata Albirex (34-15) 78-72 on Saturday. The game without a history. Niigata Albirex led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import guard Russell Carter (196-85, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St., agency: APAA Sports Group) added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Aomori Watts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Niigata Albirex have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 34-15 record having five points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Aomori Watts lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 26 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face again Aomori Watts (#6) at home in the next round.
