Regular Season Round 29: Bourg - Rouen 87-72

An interesting game took place in Bourg where 14th ranked SPO Rouen (11-18) was upset on the court of seventeenth ranked JL Bourg (7-22) 87-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by JL Bourg. SPO Rouen was better in fourth quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JL Bourg dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to SPO Rouen's 18. They outrebounded SPO Rouen 39-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for JL Bourg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Point guard Jordan Theodore (182-89, college: Seton Hall) stepped up and scored 12 points and 9 assists for the winners and forward Steven Smith (203-83, college: La Salle) chipped in 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). JL Bourg's coach Jean-Luc Tissot used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St.) responded with 24 points and point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern, agency: APAA Sports Group) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted JL Bourg maintains seventeenth place with 7-22 record. SPO Rouen at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. JL Bourg will face higher ranked STB Le Havre (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
