Regular Season Round 53: Shiga L-Stars - Hamamatsu P. 79-69

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (39-11) against fourth ranked Shiga L-Stars (33-17) on Sunday night. Visiting Hamamatsu Phoenix was defeated by Shiga L-Stars in Shiga 79-69. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hamamatsu Phoenix. The game was mostly controlled by Shiga L-Stars. Hamamatsu Phoenix was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shiga L-Stars made 25-of-30 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Hamamatsu Phoenix 36-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia, agency: Haylett Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Mo Charlo (203-83, college: Nevada) answered with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Jermaine Green (203-80, college: N.Texas, agency: Haylett Sports) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hamamatsu Phoenix. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shiga L-Stars maintains fourth place with 33-17 record. Hamamatsu Phoenix at the other side dropped to the second position with 11 games lost. They share it with Akita NH. Shiga L-Stars will play against league's second-placed Okinawa GK on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hamamatsu Phoenix will play against Oita Heat Devils and hopes to get back on the winning track.
