Regular Season Round 45: Mitsubishi DD - Tsukuba R. 96-62

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (27-22) crushed 5th ranked Tsukuba R. (6-43) in Nagoya 96-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi Dolphins. Tsukuba R. was better in second period 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 28. Mitsubishi Dolphins forced 22 Tsukuba R. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Tsukuba R.'s players. It was a good game for Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) contributed with 7 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Tsukuba R.Four Tsukuba R. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mitsubishi Dolphins maintains second place with 27-22 record having fourteen points less than leader Hitachi SR. Tsukuba R. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 43 games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will face league's second-placed Tochigi Brex on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tsukuba R. will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and hope to win that game.
