Regular Season Round 45: Aishin SH - Chiba Jets 69-58

Rather predictable result when first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (40-10) won against 5th ranked Chiba Jets (31-18) in Kariya 69-58 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Chiba Jets was better in second period 14-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Chiba Jets. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 40-10 record. Loser Chiba Jets keep the fifth position with 18 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Tsukuba R. (#5) on the road in the next round. Chiba Jets will play against Dragonflies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
