There was a surprise result in Sassari where fourteenth ranked Cimberio Varese (10-17) beat 4th placed Banco di Srd (17-10) 79-71 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-71. It was a great evening for American point guard Eric Maynor (190-87, college: VCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. DR Congolese Christian Eyenga (201-89) helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Rakim Sanders (193-89, college: Fairfield) with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Jeff Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Banco di Srd's coach Romeo Sacchetti rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cimberio Varese moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Sidigas AV and Upea CdO. Banco di Srd lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Cimberio Varese will have a break next round. Banco di Srd will play on the road against Juvecaserta (#16) in Caserta and hope to win that game.
