Regular Season Round 53: Osaka Evessa - Oita H.Devils 70-66

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Oita Heat Devils (18-32) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Osaka Evessa (28-22) 70-66 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oita Heat Devils won third quarter 13-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osaka Evessa dominated on the defensive end, holding Oita Heat Devils to just 5 points in first quarter. American swingman Seth Tarver (196-88, college: Oregon St., agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and point guard Nishi Yutaro (176-92) chipped in 22 points. American guard Demetri McCamey (191-89, college: Illinois) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import guard Drew Barham (198-89, college: Gonzaga) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Osaka Evessa maintains fifth place with 28-22 record. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the seventh position with 32 games lost. They share it with Gunma. Osaka Evessa will meet league's leader Kyoto Hannar. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oita Heat Devils will play against Hamamatsu Phoenix (#3) and hope to secure a win.
