Not a big story in a game in Maracaibo where 10th ranked Gaiteros (4-25) were rolled over by seventh ranked Toros (12-17) 71-52 on Monday. The game without a history. Toros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Toros outrebounded Gaiteros 43-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. American power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) chipped in 19 points. At the losing side Nigerian-American power forward Reggie Okosa (208-80, college: La Salle) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Jhon Romero (199-85) scored 8 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toros maintains seventh place with 12-17 record. Gaiteros at the other side stay dead last with 25 lost games. Toros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gaiteros will play again at home against Toros (#7) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
