Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Caracas: Cocodrilos (#4) and Panteras (#9). Panteras were smashed at home by 19 points 77-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 19 points. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) scored 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Power forward Justin Williams (206-84, college: Wyoming) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard R.L. Horton (182-89, college: S.Mississippi) scored 22 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Cocodrilos went down to fifth position due to points difference. Loser Panteras keep the ninth place with 23 games lost. Cocodrilos will face higher ranked Trotamundos (#4) in Valencia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panteras will play on the road against Toros (#7) in Maracay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
