Very predictable result when third ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (7-2) defeated on the road 9th ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (2-8) 80-75 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 47-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American swingman Vincent Grier (195-83, college: Minnesota) fired 25 points and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) chipped in 26 points. Four Lobos UAD Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Joaquin Villanueva (207-86) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Lobos UAD Mazatlan moved-up to second place. Rayos de Hermosillo lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with eight games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will meet at home bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Fuerza Guinda Nogales and hope to secure a win.
