Regular Season Round 62: Quimsa - Penarol 97-74

Date: April 22, 2015
Everything went according to plan in Santiado Estero where first ranked Quimsa (41-7) outscored 3rd ranked Penarol (27-18) 97-74 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Quimsa. Penarol was better in fourth quarter 30-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Nicolas Aguirre (188-88) scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and American center Robert Battle (205-81, college: Drexel) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Quimsa players scored in double figures. The former international center Martin Leiva (211-80) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Alejandro Konsztadt (191-89) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Quimsa maintains first position with 41-7 record. Defending champion Penarol keeps the third place with 18 games lost. Quimsa will face Estudian.Con. (#6) in Concordia in the next round where they are favorite.
