Arxil Pontevedra used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Madrid 61-52 on Thursday night. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Arxil Pontevedra dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Dist.Olimpico's 22. Senegalese center Maimouna Diarra (198-91) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 24 rebounds for the winners. Forward Maria Lago chipped in 17 points. Arxil Pontevedra's coach Mayte Mendez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Celia Menendez (186-90, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Maria Villar (175-85) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Arxil Pontevedra will face Maquinaria Ensino in the next round.
