Very expected game when 18th ranked Angers BC (4-26) was rolled over on the road by ninth ranked Le Portel (16-14) 89-65 on Friday. The game without a history. Le Portel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Le Portel outrebounded Angers BC 36-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Angers BC's players. The best player for the winners was naturalized Polish forward Mathieu Wojciechowski (203-92) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Gregg Thondique (202-87, college: Virginia Union, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 14 points and swingman Gaylor Curier (197-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Le Portel moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Evreux and Orchy. Angers BC lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 26 lost games. Le Portel will face ALM Evreux (#10) on the road in the next round. Angers BC will play against Souffelweyersheim (#15) and hope to win that game.
