An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan in a game versus Tijuana Zonkeys (#7) 85-76. Caballeros de Culiacan trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 20-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-85 at the end of the game. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) accounted for 13 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. American Theron Laudermill (202-89, college: CS San Bernar.) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Caballeros de Culiacan in the defeat. Caballeros de Culiacan's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion (5-5) moved-up to sixth place. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Guasave. Tijuana Zonkeys will again meet at home higher ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caballeros de Culiacan will have a break next round.
