Regular Season Round 46: Tsukuba R. - Aishin SH 74-94

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Tsukuba R. (6-45) was rolled over at home by first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (42-10) 94-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 57-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 30 and made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The former international guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 16 points during the contest. At the losing side American forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and guard Shota Isshiki (177-87) scored 16 points. Five Aishin Sea Horses and four Tsukuba R. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 42-10 record. Tsukuba R. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 45 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face league's second-placed Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tsukuba R. will play at home against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex and hope to win that game.
