Regular Season Round 40: Toros - Panteras 92-81
Date: April 25, 2015
No shocking result in a game in Maracay where seventh ranked Toros (15-17) defeated 9th ranked Panteras (7-25) 92-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Panteras managed to win second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) who added 25 points and 4 steals during the contest. Toros' coach Ricard Casas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American power forward Justin Williams (206-84, college: Wyoming) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the former international power forward Luis Julio (201-80) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Toros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 15-17 record. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 25 games lost. Toros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Panteras will play against Trotamundos (#5) and hope to secure a win.
