Regular Season Round 40: Guaros - Bucaneros 79-84

Date: April 25, 2015
The biggest surprise of round 40 was guest Bucaneros' (#2) road victory over Guaros (#3) 84-79 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 26-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Bucaneros made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati, agency: Tycoon Sports Inc.) fired 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists. American guard Tu Holloway (182-89, college: Xavier) produced 22 points and 4 assists and international center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton) added 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Five Bucaneros and four Guaros players scored in double figures. Guaros' coach Nestor Garcia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bucaneros maintains second position with 21-10 record having four points less than leader Marinos. Guaros lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 11 games lost. Bucaneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guaros will play again at home against the league's second-placed Bucaneros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
