Regular Season Round 33: Avignon-Sorgues - Chartres 82-89

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Sorgues BC (16-15) was defeated at home by fifth ranked UB Chartres (21-11) 89-82. It looked good early as Sorgues BC took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then UB Chartres had a 28-14 second period charge getting the lead and Sorgues BC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-89. UB Chartres made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Sorgues BC helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Bahamas forward Bennet Davis (204-84, college: Northeastern, agency: KMG Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola, MD, agency: Promotex) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four UB Chartres players scored in double figures. Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (200-82) answered with 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American-British power forward Tafari Toney (202-86) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Sorgues BC. Sorgues BC's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for UB Chartres. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Vichy. Sorgues BC at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. UB Chartres' next round opponent will be league's leader Saint Chamond at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sorgues BC will play against GET Vosges (#11) in Golbey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
