There was a minor upset in Cananea where 5th ranked Frayles de Guasave (6-6) was rolled over by eighth ranked Mineros de Caborca (4-8) 94-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mineros de Caborca. Frayles de Guasave was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) who added 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Mineros de Caborca players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) with 21 points and 8 rebounds and forward Ross Rivera (201, college: Pacific) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Mineros de Caborca maintains eighth position with 4-8 record, which they share with Hermosillo. Loser Frayles de Guasave keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Mineros de Caborca will face league's leader Ostioneros de Guaymas at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Frayles de Guasave will play against the league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
