Regular Season Round 41: Guaros - Bucaneros 106-92

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Barquisimeto where second-ranked Bucaneros (21-11) were defeated by third ranked Guaros (21-11) 106-92 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 69-50 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Guaros made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Bucaneros only scored seven points from the stripe. Guaros forced 21 Bucaneros turnovers. Bucaneros were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international point guard Heissler Guillent (186-86) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Dominican guard Luis Flores (188-81, college: Manhattan, agency: Duran International) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guaros moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Bucaneros. Guaros will face bottom-ranked Gaiteros (#10) in Maracaibo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bucaneros will play at home against Gigantes (#8) and hope to win that game.
