Very predictable result in Tokyo where first ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (44-8) smashed 7th ranked Wakayama T. (5-47) 96-50 on Sunday. The game without a history. Hitachi Sunrockers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Wakayama T. to just 6 points in second quarter. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Wakayama T.'s 36. Hitachi Sunrockers forced 20 Wakayama T. turnovers and outrebounded them 45-26 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest.
