We should mention about the upset which took place in Hod Hasharon, where 8th ranked Bnei Hasharon (13-16) lost at home to eleventh ranked Maccabi Ashdod (10-19) 97-102. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bnei Hasharon. Bnei Hasharon was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 28-20 third quarter run of Maccabi Ashdod. They shot 61.5 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi Ashdod especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St., agency: Comsport) nailed 32 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) accounted for 17 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Josh Selby (188-91, college: Kansas) came up with 22 points and 8 assists and international point guard Yuval Naimy (188-85) added 15 points and 10 assists respectively for Bnei Hasharon in the defeat. Four Maccabi Ashdod and five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Maccabi Ashdod. They maintain eleventh place with 10-19 record. Bnei Hasharon at the other side keeps the eighth position with 16 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod's next round opponent will be higher ranked Maccabi Haifa (#5) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
