There was no surprise when 9th ranked Chalons-Reims (15-15) was defeated at home by first ranked Strasbourg IG (26-4) 73-69 on Monday. Chalons-Reims was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-20 charge of Strasbourg IG, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Ali Traore (206-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Antoine Diot (193-89, agency: Comsport) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Strasbourg IG's coach Vincent Collet used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Mark Payne (203-88, college: Cal-Davis) who recorded 21 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import center Darryl Watkins (211-84, college: Syracuse, agency: Inception Sports) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively.
