Regular Season Round 41: Toros - Guaiqueries 80-68
Date: April 28, 2015
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Maracay where seventh ranked Toros (17-17) defeated 6th ranked Guaiqueries (18-14) 80-68 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Guaiqueries was better in third quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toros made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 24 points. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Toros' coach Ricard Casas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91) produced 25 points and American center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) added 11 points and 16 rebounds respectively for the guests. Toros have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 17-17 record. Guaiqueries at the other side keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Toros will face again higher ranked Guaiqueries (#6) in Porlamar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
