Rather predictable result when second ranked Tochigi Brex (41-10) beat at home 5th ranked Chiba Jets (33-20) 83-71 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Chiba Jets was better in second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chiba Jets 40-26 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Tommy Brenton (196-89, college: Stony Brook) chipped in 8 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Tochigi Brex's coach Thomas Wisman used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 22 points respectively for the guests. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Tochigi Brex. They maintain second place with 41-10 record behind leader Hitachi SR. Loser Chiba Jets keep the fifth position with 20 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Toyota Alvark (#3) in Tokyo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chiba Jets will play at home against Tsukuba R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
