Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Granarolo BO (15-14) won against 10th ranked Virtus Acea (12-17) in Bologna 90-77 on Sunday. The game without a history. Granarolo BO led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. American swingman Jeremy Hazell (195-86, college: Seton Hall) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!). His fellow American import guard Allan Ray (188-84, college: Villanova) contributed with 29 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Granarolo BO's coach Giorgio Valli allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) answered with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian-Nigerian forward Melvin Ejim (198-91, college: Iowa St.) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Virtus Acea. Four Virtus Acea players scored in double figures. Granarolo BO maintains seventh place with 15-14 record. Loser Virtus Acea keeps the tenth position with 17 games lost. Granarolo BO will face higher ranked Dolomiti En. TR (#4) in Trento in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Virtus Acea will play at home against AV Cantu (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
