Regular Season Round 68: Argentino - Penarol 83-84

Date: May 7, 2015
Fifth-ranked Argentino (25-27) gave a tough game to third ranked Penarol (30-22) in Junin. The visitors from Mar del Plata managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Argentino won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Argentino outrebounded Penarol 37-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Uruguayan guard Martin Osimani (194-81, college: Duquesne) who scored that evening 14 points and international forward Franco Giorgetti (201-92) supported him with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Even 27 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by swingman Fernando Funes (193-83) did not help to save the game for Argentino. American forward Daniel Stewart (201-92, college: Rider) added 16 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. Five Argentino players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third position with 30-22 record having four points less than leader Quimsa. Argentino lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 27 games lost. They share the position with Quilmes MP.
