There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers STB Le Havre (19-13) was defeated at home by sixth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (18-14) 85-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. STB Le Havre was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Ahmad Nivins (206-87, college: St.Joseph's) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket's coach J.D. Jackson used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Vincentian center Shawn King (208-82, college: ORU) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and American-Dominican Ricardo Greer (196-77, college: Pittsburgh) scored 18 points. Four STB Le Havre players scored in double figures. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Nancy. Loser STB Le Havre keeps the fourth position with 13 games lost. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will face Le Mans (#7) on the road in the next round. STB Le Havre will play against Paris-Levallois and hope to win that game.
