An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Malaga. Third ranked Regal FC Barcelona faced second-best Unicaja Malaga. Guests from Barcelona (24-9) defeated host Unicaja Malaga (24-9) 74-61. The game was mostly controlled by Regal FC Barcelona. Unicaja Malaga was better in fourth quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Unicaja Malaga outrebounded Regal FC Barcelona 45-27 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 9 points and 4 assists. American Deshaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) contributed with 12 points for the winners. The former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) answered with 11 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Carlos Suarez (203-86, agency: Court Side) added 3 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Unicaja Malaga. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Regal FC Barcelona have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Unicaja. Unicaja Malaga lost fifth consecutive game. Regal FC Barcelona will play against Andorra (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Unicaja Malaga will play against Bilbao Basket (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
