Regular Season Round 4: Astros - Manizales 85-77

Date: July 29, 2015
There was no surprise when 7th ranked Manizales (1-3) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Astros (3-1) 85-77. Manizales were ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 49-35 second half run of Astros. They made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Brandon Provost (190-90, college: UTRGV) who scored that evening 24 points and the other American import guard Deandre Williams (188-87, college: Palm Beach Atl.) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Astros players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 5 rebounds by American-Dominican guard Alvin Abreu (187-87, college: New Hampshire) did not help to save the game for Manizales. American forward Carlos Smith (206-90, college: Bowie St.) added 15 points for lost side. Manizales' coach Guido Naipauer rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Astros have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Llaneros and Halcones. Manizales lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Astros' next round opponent will be Halcones (#3) in Cucuta, which may be the game of the day. Manizales will play against Llaneros (#4) and hope to win that game.
