Regular Season Round 4: Aguilas - Halcones 82-89

Another exciting game was played in Boyaca between fifth ranked Halcones and one of their biggest challengers Patriotas where Halcones (3-1) beat Patriotas (2-2) on the road 89-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Patriotas. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Patriotas were ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 44-30 second half run of Halcones. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Patriotas' 24. Halcones forced 21 Patriotas turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan power forward Jesus Martinez (204-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Jose Manaures contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American Jereal Scott (203-89, college: SF Austin) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Eleutherio Renteria (194-81) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Patriotas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones moved-up to second place, which they share with Llaneros and Astros. Defending champion Patriotas dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Piratas and Academia. Halcones will play against league's second-placed Astros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Patriotas will play against UBC Muiscas and hope to get back on the winning track.
