Regular Season Round 4: Llaneros - Academia 83-84

Undefeated Llaneros (3-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked Academia (2-2) 84-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Llaneros. Llaneros were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 25-16 charge of Academia, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Llaneros outrebounded Academia 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. American-Puerto Rican forward Jose Guitian (207-87, college: Lasell) fired 29 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rican-Dominican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. Mexican-Puerto Rican guard Joseph Soto (190-93) produced 28 points and 6 assists and Luis Hernandez added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Llaneros players scored in double figures. Academia moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Piratas and Aguilas. Llaneros at the other side keep the second position with one game lost. They share it with Halcones and Astros. Academia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Llaneros will play on the road against Manizales and are hoping to win this game.
