Regular Season Round 5: Nanjin Army - Heilongjiang 100-117

Bottom-ranked Heilongjiang managed to get a second victory. This time they won against eighth-ranked Nanjin Army 117-100. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference suggests that Heilongjiang is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They made 34-of-38 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Nanjin Army was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Marcus Williams (200-86, college: Arizona) nailed 51 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winning side and forward Xuepeng Song (195-92) accounted for 23 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guard Ming-Yu Liu (192-91) came up with 31 points and 5 rebounds and forward Yuan Zong (196-91) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Nanjin Army in the defeat. Four Heilongjiang and five Nanjin Army players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Heilongjiang (2-2) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Guangxi. Nanjin Army at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Beijing. Heilongjiang will play against higher ranked Guayzhou (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nanjin Army will play against Henan and hopes to get finally their first victory.
