Regular Season Round 6: Manizales - Llaneros 72-69

The most exciting game of round 6 in the Liga DirecTV took place in Manizales. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Llaneros (4-2) to eighth ranked Manizales (2-4) 72-69 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Llaneros won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Manizales dominated on the defensive end, holding Llaneros to just 7 points in second quarter. Manizales had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Manizales made 10 blocks. It was a good game for American-Dominican guard Alvin Abreu (187-87, college: New Hampshire) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Canadian guard Shamar Coombs (185-86, college: Texas A&M-CC) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Mexican-Puerto Rican guard Joseph Soto (190-93) replied with 26 points and 4 assists and center Jhon Hernandez (206-85) added 12 points and 20 rebounds in the effort for Llaneros. Four Llaneros players scored in double figures. Manizales maintains eighth position with 2-4 record. Llaneros at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Aguilas. Manizales are looking forward to face higher ranked Piratas (#7) in Bogota in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
