Regular Season Round 9: Heilongjiang - Lhasa 98-85

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Heilongjiang (4-4) defeated at home 7th ranked Lhasa (2-6) 98-85 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-85. Heilongjiang made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Lhasa turnovers and outrebounded them 47-31 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lhasa was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Marcus Williams (200-86, college: Arizona) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and center Pan Yue (203-91) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Heilongjiang's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was center Chao Zhi (201-89) with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Zhenjie Xu (198-89) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Heilongjiang maintains fifth place with 4-4 record. Lhasa lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Heilongjiang will face higher ranked Henan (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lhasa will play against Nanjin Army and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
