Regular Season Round 9: Llaneros - Manizales 89-70

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Llaneros (8-2) crushed at home 8th ranked Manizales (3-7) 89-70. It looked good early as Manizales took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Llaneros had a 24-20 second period charge getting the lead and Manizales were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-89. Llaneros forced 21 Manizales turnovers. The best player for the winners was Luis Hernandez who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. Five Llaneros players scored in double figures. Llaneros' coach Ramon Melendez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian guard Shamar Coombs (185-86, college: Texas A&M-CC) who recorded 19 points and American-Dominican guard Alvin Abreu (187-87, college: New Hampshire) added 17 points respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Llaneros. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Astros. Manizales lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Llaneros' next round opponent will be UBC Muiscas (#9) and are hoping to win another game.
